Wayfinding Gamification
For this project, I helped to gamify a wayfinding app to enhance students' campus experience by encouraging exploration and engagement. The app incorporates various features, including location-based challenges, leaderboards, rewards and incentives, and a badge system. Through extensive user research, I developed personas, user stories, and journey maps to ensure the app meets the needs of different student profiles, such as newcomers and explorers. I also created the information architecture and UX flows, ensuring a seamless and intuitive user experience. This project demonstrates my ability to blend gamification with user-centered design to create an engaging and impactful digital product.
HBCU Insider App Prototype
HBCU Insider is an app designed to help students find the right Historically Black Colleges and
Universities (HBCUs) based on authentic testimonials from current and former students. Developed through extensive user research and competitive analysis, the app offers personalized recommendations and filterable categories for a user-centric experience. By prioritizing real student insights, HBCU Insider fills a crucial gap in college search resources, providing prospective students with valuable information about campus life, academics, and more. This paper outlines the research methodology, design process, and testing phases involved in creating HBCU Insider, highlighting its focus on delivering trustworthy and relevant information to users. With HBCU Insider, students can confidently explore HBCUs and make informed decisions about their higher education journey.Threads Case Study
In this usability analysis, we delve into Meta's latest social media platform, Threads, which initially gained rapid user adoption but faced a subsequent decline. The study identifies key issues, such as the app's perceived lack of uniqueness compared to Twitter, and proposes five design recommendations—allowing post-editing, introducing personal messages, enabling GIFs, improving searchability with trends, and providing the ability to delete Threads accounts without affecting Instagram.
AR Toys Content Analysis
In this Content Analysis of the AR game "AR Toys: Playground Sandbox," data was gathered through reviews, think-aloud sessions, heuristic evaluations, and digital ethnography to assess the user experience. The study revealed challenges such as frequent crashes, overheating, a poor user interface, and a lack of incentives. Three user personas were developed, representing diverse backgrounds, and six actionable recommendations were identified, including refining the user interface, introducing incentives, and fixing bugs, aimed at enhancing the overall gaming experience. Despite challenges, the research contributes valuable insights to improve the game's user-friendliness and stability.
Non-Traditional Students Design Brief
In this research project, the identified problem revolves around non-traditional online graduate students facing significant time management barriers, impacting academic performance and work-life-education balance. Engaging stakeholders such as students, families, faculty, and a licensed psychotherapist, the research led to the development of a mid-fidelity prototype, the "Graduate Student Quick Start Guide," designed to provide essential information and resources, aiming to alleviate stress and enhance the overall graduate school experience.
